Maryland Creative Problem Solvers, Inc. (MCPSI) is a non-profit Affiliate of Destination ImagiNation, Inc. MCPSI has been offering creative problem solving programs to Maryland students for 24 years and enjoys 501 C3 tax exempt status through an umbrella arrangement with Destination ImagiNation, Inc. Each year over 400 teams from across Maryland participate in tournaments in our eight different regions. That’s over 2,800 kids! And each year we get bigger and better. MCPSI is run by a volunteer board of directors, led by volunteer Affiliate Directors. Every appraiser, tournament director, team manager trainer, souvenir sales person, and anyone else you see helping to run the tournaments is a volunteer. MCPSI gets no funding from the state of Maryland or any school system. A portion of each passport membership fee is all MCPSI has to run DI in Maryland. It takes many thousands of dollars each year to provide the DI experience to Maryland students. MCPSI provides all trainings and the state tournament, as well as providing a website and newsletters. It also assists the Global teams and works with the State of Maryland to obtain the grant that pays a large portion of the Globals teams expenses. Consider this -- the State tournament alone costs $17,000. That includes space rental, photocopying all score sheets, feeding all the appraisers (we have to keep them happy!), printing the program, awards, stickie notes, and lots of other necessities. These costs are paid by team registration fees, souvenir sales, generous donations from our program advertisers and corporate sponsors like Black & Decker. MCPSI wishes to make the regional and state DI experience more fun and rewarding each year, in spite of rising costs. It can only do that with your help. How can you help?

  • Offer the services of your business to help MCPSI cut costs and improve the program. The following services and products would help -- photocopying, sign production, advertising, food for appraisers, door prizes and silent auction items, bottled water for volunteers, snacks for the kids, and anything else you can think of.
  • Make a connection with an employer that may be interested in being a corporate sponsor
  • Make a tax deductible personal financial donation to MCPSI
